Cross-strait and Hong Kong-Macau Youth Micro Movie and Youth Culture Forum Held at NEDU

On the afternoon of September 18, hosted by Executive Committee of the 24th China’s Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival and Taiwan Affairs Office of Jilin Municipal Government, organized by Northeast Dianli University, the the 24th China’s Golden Rooster and Hundred Flowers Film Festival, with the them of “Image• Jilin”, Cross-strait and Hong Kong-Macau Youth Micro Movie and Youth Culture Forum was held at academic exchange center of NEDU. Participants include officials from Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, Taiwan Affairs Office of Jilin Province, Secretariat of Jilin Municipal Party Committee and Jilin Municipal Youth League Committee, WANG Jianguo, Vice President of NEDU, contestants and teachers and students of NEDU. 

On behalf of NEDU, Vice President WANG Jianguo welcomed all the attendees. He gave a brief introduction to NEDU and expressed his hope that we could build a cross-strait friendship bridge for the young, let them chase after their dreams and create more master pieces to flourish Chinese culture and art. 

The topic of this forum is "Micro Movie and Growth of the Young". It was hosted by ZHANG Ruige, the 2013th postgraduate student, majoring in ideological and political education at School of Social Science. 

The guests of this forum are ZHANG Bairui, CEO of Taiwan Movie Cultural and Creative Industries Association, LI Yizhong, dean of department of Cinema and Television of Shanghai Jiaotong University, YU Qiao, presenter of XinYing production center of CCTV, and SONG Ke, dean of department of Department of Media Technology and Transmission of Northeast Dianli University. In the forum, Prof. LI Yizhong shared his understanding of reason why micro movies have been rising in this era. In his opinion, the internet has made great contribution to the development of micro movies. ZHANG Borui, LI Yizhong and YU Qiao speak highly of the achievement of this forum. Micro movies have broad community, save investment and have great influence. They believe micro movies will further the development of film industry in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau and provide the young with opportunities to achieve their movie dreams. Mr.Song makes a speech in the forum, introduces the teaching mode of the department of media and connection in our school and many methods of professional practice multi-channel. Meanwhile, he raised hopes of that students should cherish the opportunity and strive for the dreams. 

The forum was held at our university. It has broadened our teachers’ and students’ knowledge and understanding of film culture and it has enriched NEDU’s university culture.

 

NEDU Welcome New International Students from 14 Countries

With the help of relevant departments and offices, the orientation for new international students ends successfully. 

NEDU admitted 30 international students in total coming from 14 countries, such as  Cambodia, Thailand, Sudan, Guinea, Korea, Mongolia, Rwanda, Ghana, Togo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Laos, Vietnam, Pakistan and Somalias, including 24 degree4 students (20 postgraduates and 4 undergraduates) and 6 language students. Dated to September 14, 27 students have been registered. These students will study political and ideological education, civil engineering, accountihng, artistic design, business administration, information and communication engineering, electrical engineering, power engineering and engineering thermophysics, computer science and technology, international economics and trade and English at NEDU.

Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and College of International Exchange provide considerate service to international students during the orientation. Members and volunteers of Communication Association of International Students actively participate in the orientation, which helps the international students better understand NEDU’s humanistic care and builds a communication bridge for the Chinese and international students.

Dr. Y. Frank Chen from University of Pennsylvania Delivered Academic Reports at NEDU

Dr. Y. Frank Chen from University of Pennsylvania delivered academic reports at the 2015 Annual Serial Academic Reports held by School of Civil Engineering as the third invited speaker. Dr. Y. Frank Chen is a world famous bridge researcher, specializing in bridge structure wind resistance, bridge structure reinforcement and reconstruction, prestressed concrete and structure-soil interaction.

Dr. Y. Frank Chen delivered academic report on wind resistance on May 8 and reports on bridge structure reinforcement and reconstruction and live load distribution on May 11. He introduced advanced international technology and methods and his own latest research results on bridge structure. Over 200 teachers and students listened to his reports.

The 8th International Academic Conference of Frontier Information Technology, Application and Tools Held at NEDU

On July 20th, the 8th International Academic Conference of Frontier Information Technology, Application and Tools was held at academic exchange center of NEDU. 

This conference is co-hosted by NEDU, Chungbuk National University and FITAT and organized by School of Information Engineering of NEDU. Experts and scholars in the field of information coming from higher institutions in Republic of Korea, Japan and Mongolia attended the conference. The topics of this conference include medical treatment and information processing, smart grid and big data processing, communication engineering and the Internet of things, bioinformatics, smart city construction and informatization and e-commerce and large database analysis. 

Vice President CAI Guowei briefly introduced the history and development of NEDU at the opening ceremony. On behalf of the organizer, SONG Renjie, dean of School of Information Engineering, stated the purpose and meaning of this conference. Oyun-Erdene Namsrai, representative of FITAT, gave an introduction to the research fields of FITAT, conference agenda and attendees. Experts from Iwate Prefectural University in Japan, Chungbuk National University in Republic of Korea and Beijing Normal University delivered academic reports respectively, which are followed by a two-day group discussion. 

The 8th International Academic Conference of Frontier Information Technology, Application and Tools ended in success, which provided a precious opportunity for teachers and students of NEDU to communicate with domestic and overseas experts in the field.

The First International Student Fashion Show Held Successfully by NEDU

The First International Student Fashion Show held by College of International Exchange, School of Arts and Association of International Student Exchange were held successfully at the Rehearsal Hall of School of Arts on May 20. International students from Mongolia, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Sudan, Kazakhstan, Cambodia and Rwanda, instructors from School of Arts and College of International Exchange and over 300 Chinese students participated.

The Fashion Show started with an opening song and dance, Willing. Students from Performance Studio of School of Arts presented traditional Chinese costumes, such as cheongsam and evening gown. Chinese classic Guzheng performance, elegant social dance, passionate modern dance and hip-hop dance were performance alternately. A song called “Mom who has a child is the most happy mom” was sung by international students. International students’ domestic fashion show brought the climax.
