Vice President Wang Jianguo met with delegation led by Vice President Wu Xinxing from Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology on April 16. Guan Xiaohui, dean of Teaching Affairs Office, Han Shumin, director of Office of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs, Li Wei, director of Department of Admissions and Student Employment and Wang Lei, deputy director of Department of Student Affairs participated in the meeting.
On behalf of President Li Guoqing, Vice President Wang Jianguo delivered our warm greeting to the delegation and introduced our university briefly. Vice President Wu Xinxing appreciated the warm welcome and considerate arrangement and he introduced STUST’s history and features. After the meeting, accompanied by Vice President Wang Jianguo, the delegation visited Electric Power Production Dynamic Demonstration Simulation Room and provincial key laboratory of Modern Electric Power System Simulation Control and Green Energy New Technology. In the evening, Vice President Wu Xinxing gave a presentation on studying at STUST as exchange students and he answered questions from interested students. There were over 300 students participated.
Founded in 1969, Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology is located in Nantai city. It has 4 departments and over 19,000 current students. In 2009, evaluated by education department of Taiwan, the university were tied for the first place together with NTUT among science and technology universities. In July 2012, the university ranked No. 1 among science and technology universities according to Webometrics Top 100 Universities. STUST’s 7 departments and 9 institutes have all obtained IEET. The university is NEDU’s 7th Taiwan higher education institution partner. In 2011, NEDU began to discuss the agreement of cooperation and exchange with STUST. In 2012, NEDU representative following Jilin Province Higher Education Delegation visited STUST. In April 2013, NEDU and STUST presidents formally signed the agreements of cooperation and exchange relationship and the student exchange. NEDU Students can apply for studying at STUST as exchange students from now on.
